The Hyundai T7 is a 7 inch Android tablet with a 1280 x 800 pixel display and a speedy Samsung Exynos 4412 quad-core processor. It’s also pretty darn cheap, selling for as little as $140 or so (plus shipping from China).
There are only a few catches. First, it ships with Android 4.0 rather than a newer version of Google’s operating system. Second, when I tried updating the firmware on a demo unit, I broke my tablet.
If that doesn’t scare you off, there’s good news: There’s a new Android 4.2 beta software update available for the Hyundai T7.
Geekbuying has download links and and instructions for upgrading the tablet. But proceed with caution, since the tablet can be a bit fickle.
It’s also beta firmware, so there are also links to the stock software in case you encounter problems and want to go back to Android 4.0.
You can also buy an OEM version of the tablet (without branding) from Geekbuying for $150 + free shipping to the US.
