The HTC One smartphone is coming to the US. AT&T and Sprint have both announced that they’ll offer HTC’s most powerful handset to date starting April 19th.

Both carriers will sell the phone for $199.99 to customers who sign up for a 2-year service plan. AT&T pre-orders start April 4th, while Sprint will begin taking pre-orders on April 5th.

HTC One

The HTC One features a 4.7 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, 2GB of RAM, a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, and 32GB of storage or more.

AT&T will also offer a 64GB model for $299.99.

There’s no word on if or when we’ll see the HTC One at T-Mobile, Verizon, or other US carriers.

While the phone ships with Android 4.1.2, you won’t see any mention of that in either press release. Instead, HTC and wireless carriers are playing up the latest HTC Snese software including BlinkFeed, a home screen widget that shows real-time updates from media sources, and the HTC Sense TV software which lets you use your phone as a program guide and remote control for your TV.

HTC is also pushing its new “UltraPixel” camera which allows in more light than a traditional camera, so while it only has a 4 megapixel sensor, it should work better in low-light conditions that most smartphone cameras.

A developer-edition version of the HTC One is also on the way, offering an unlocked bootloader and SIM. But that model will sell for $649.

Meanwhile rival Samsung has its own superphone set to launch this spring. The Samsung Galaxy S IV features a larger display, a microSD card slot and a removable battery.

But while those are the features that matter most to me, Samsung is taking a similar approach and playing up its TouchWiz software improvements including facial recognition software that scrolls content by tracking your movement, and a Smart Pause option that stops video playback when you look away from the phone.

  1. Too bad HTC botched this launch and the Dev edition. I was really looking forward to upgrading from my i9000 on 4.2.2 to this device.
