Chinese chip makers haven’t yet started producing processors based on ARM’s Cortex-A15 designs. But that hasn’t stopped Chinese tablet makers from adding ARM Cortex-A15 chips to their devices.

A growing number of tablet makers are launching Android tablets’s with Samsung’s 1.7 GHz Exynos 5250 dual-core processor. The latest is the Freelander PD800HD.

Freelander P800HD

Geekbuying reports this tablet will features a 9.7 inch, 2048 x 1536 pixel IPS display, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.

It’s expected to ship with Andorid 4.2 Jelly Bean, and features front and rear cameras, HDMI output, WiFi, and Bluetooth.

The specs are nearly identical to those for the Freelander P80HD tablet, another 9.7 inch tablet with a high-resolution display. But that model features a Rockchip RK3188 quad-core CPU instead of a Samsung Exynos 5250 dual-core processor.

Interestingly, all the Chinese tablets with Exynos 5250 chips I’ve seen announced so far have had the same Retina-like displays, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re all based on the same reference design.

  1. A similar model is already available – the Novo 9 Spark and offers a full-size 9.7 Inch display with an high resolution Retina screen and a Quad Core Processor — and the 32GB version is available through a site called TabletSprint

The Novo 9 Spark runs Android 4.2 and features a 9.7 inch 2048×1536 IPS screen and a performance Quad Core processor/1.5 Ghz/2GB – along with a powerful 10,000 mAh battery, WiFi and 3G/4G internet access through its USB port, a MicroSD memory card slot, the new high end 4K Digital HDMI to stream movies from your tablet and display on an HD TV, a 2 MP Front webcam and a 5 Megapixel Rear Camera with AF; and Google Play Store, with acess to over 400,000 Android software Apps.
TabletSprint also offers $25 in some quality bonus Apps.

    1. Novo 9 Spark is powered by the Allwinner A31 Quad Core A7 (damn weak compared to the dual A15s in 5250) and PowerVR SGX544MP2 (a little under-powered for a 1536p display, plus T-604 > 544MP2). Thus, the Exynos 5250-powered slates will perform better.
