Lenovo’s IdeaTab Lynx is an 11.6 inch Windows 8 tablet with an Intel Atom Clover Trail low-power processor and an optional keyboard dock that lets you use the tablet like a laptop.
First unveiled in October, the Lynx is now available in the US. While Lenovo shows an official price of $649 and an estimated ship date nearly a month away, other retailers say they have the Lynx in stock and are selling it for under $600.
You can pick up a Lynx tablet from B&H for $588. Amazon has it in stock for $600. There’s just one catch: the keyboard dock is sold separately.
The IdeaTab Lynx tablet features 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, a microUSB port, microSD card slot, and micro HDMI port. It has a 1366 x 768 pixel IPS multitouch display.
The keyboard base features two additional USB 2.0 ports.
Lenovo also packs an extra battery in the laptop dock, so while the company says you should be able to get up to 8 hours of battery life using the tablet alone, that number could go as high as 16 hours when using the tablet and dock together.
Unfortunately the laptop dock doesn’t come cheap: Amazon sells it for $150, while you can save a few bucks by grabbing it from Adorama for $148.
All told, the Lenovo IdeaTab Lynx is a lot like the HP Envy X2 which I recently reviewed. The difference is that HP’s tablet/notebook hybrid has a list price of $850 (although it’s currently available for $700), and is only available with the notebook dock.
The IdeaTab Lynx tablet is available for under $600, but you’ll have to spend close to $750 or more if you want to use it as a notebook.
Have always wonder, does window tablet have A-GPS, and accelermeter build in?
Brad,
The title is a bit misleading since $600 is the price for the tablet only.
The hybrid (tablet + keyboard) is, as mentioned in the body of the article), $750.
Where are those cheaper hybrid tablets that we were promised to see?
Who promised that?
