Gigabyte has been making notebook/tablet hybrids for years. But most of the company’s convertible tablets have featured screens which fold down over the keyboard so you can use the notebook like a tablet.

The Gigabyte S1185 is something different: an 11.6 inch Windows 8 tablet with a detachable keyboard base. We’ve seen this kind of design from plenty of other PC makers, but it’s relatively new for a Gigabyte product.

The tablet features an Intel Ivy Bridge processor, a 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS display, and a keyboard that attaches to the screen magnetically.

There are VGA and HDMI ports, front and rear cameras, USB 3.0, WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0.

Gigabyte also offers an optional 3.5G modem for the S1185 tablet.
