Coby’s latest 7 inch tablet is one of the first models from the first Google Certified devices from the company. In other words, the Coby MID7065 ships with the Google Play Store, Gmail, Google Maps, and other Google software preloaded.
The tablet is now available for $139 from retailers including J&R and Adorama.
The Coby MID7065 features a 1.2 GHz Amlogic AM8726-MX dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of stroage.
It has WiFi and Bluetooth, a front-facing VGA camera, and a microSD card slot for additional storage space. It has a 1024 x 600 pixel display and features WiFi, Bluetooth, and a mini HDMI port.
While the tablet looks pretty good on paper, the screen quality leaves a bit to be desired. I got a chance to check out this tablet at CES earlier this month, and while it felt relatively zippy for an inexpensive tablet, it suffered from poor viewing angles — the colors start to wash out when you move the tablet or move your head so you’re not looking directly at the screen.
Coby will offer a 10.1 inch tablet with an IPS display with wide viewing angles, but that model will cost almost twice as much as the MID7065.
