The Diamond Multimedia AMP1000 is a box about the size of a wireless router or DVD player which is designed to let you run Android apps on a TV. It runs Google Android 4.0, has a relatively speedy processor, and lets you stream videos from Netflix, YouTube, or other internet sites to your television.

You can also use the AMP1000 to play Android games, act like a media extender by streaming content from a PC over your home network, or as a tool for surfing the web on your TV.

The AMP1000 has a list price of about $120, but you can pick one up from Newegg for $100.

The folks at Diamond Multimedia sent a demo unit to Liliputing so we couldΒ review it this summer, and since they didn’t want it back we’re going to give it away to one lucky reader.

Diamond Multimedia AMP1000

While the AMP1000 is a bit bulkier than some of the Android mini PCs and TV sticks I’ve tested this year, it’s a fairly compact and capable device designed to fit into your home media setup.

The AMP1000 features a 1 GHz AMlogic AM8726 ARM Cortex-A9 processors, Mali 400 graphics, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of storage.

It has WiFi and Ethernet, HDMI and A/V jacks, 2 USB ports, and a full-sized USB port.

There’s also a wireless remote control with a QWERTY thumb keyboard and a gyroscopic sensor. You can use it like an air mouse, media player remote, or a keyboard. Or you can always plug in a keyboard and mouse using the AMP1000’s USB ports.

  11. I’ve never heard of this or anything like this before. I came to your site to see a review of a tablet I’m considering buying for my daughter. The review of the tablet was very informative and gave me a lot to consider. I then decided to look around your site to see what else was available and I saw this review. This was also very informative and I’m now considering getting one of these for a good friend of mine. We’ll see. Of course, if I should happen to be the lucky one, I’ll be happy.
