Kimdecent has introduced one of the cheapest Android mini computers I’ve seen so far. The Kimdecent T21 is available from AliExpress for just $49.

For that price you get a USB thumb drive-sized computer with a 1.2 GHz Nufront NS115 dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of storage. There’s a USB port on one end and an HDMI adapter on the other, which means you can plug the stick directly into a TV or monitor, connect a keyboard or mouse, and run Android apps on a big screen.

The Nufront NS115 is an ARM Cortex-A9 processor with ARM Mali 400 graphics. Nufront isn’t exactly a household name, and I’m not sure what kind of Linux support there is for this chip. But it should provide better performance than the ARM Cortex-A8 chips found in older stick-sized computers like the MK802.

The stick ships with Google Android 4.0 and Kimdecent says it supports Hulu, XBMC, and many other apps. It also seems to support the Google Play Store.

  1. Nice price but as usual not nearly enough specs provided. They at least publish the fact that it’s Dual Core Cortex A9 If it was single core they’d just omit giving the core count altogether, which is what they do in regard to the Mali-400 graphics. Mali-400 single core is less than half as powerful as Mali-400 Quad core, but even Mali-400 MP4 isn’t powerful enough for 3D gaming.

It appears that the video decode/encode is something special (Hantro G1 Multi-format Video Decoder IP), but will it handle DivX better than the Amlogic or Rockchip SoC’s? I havent’ had good results with DivX playback on Stick PCs so far. (I have an extensive DivX library).

What we need is Galaxy S3 performance on an HDMI stick. Wonder who can bring us an HDMI stick based on an Exynos 4 quad 4412 SoC?

    1. Say it brother!

These stick computers are awesome, but just like in the early days of the cheapie tablets, one must tread carefully.

    2. AMali 400MP4 not enough for gaming? It runs all games I have fine on my SGS2 with a DC A3 @ 1.2GHz so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work on this… You just won’t be gaming @ 1080p, that’s all.
