The Asus Transformer line of Android tablets may have popularized the idea of offering tablets with a detachable keyboard. But Asus clearly doesn’t have a monopoly on the idea. Lenovo, Archos, Samsung, and even Microsoft now offer Android and Windows tablets with optional keyboard docks.

But Chinese device maker Aocos may have the most budget-conscious option available. The Aocos PX102 sells for about $209 in China.

Aocos PX102

The Aocos PX102 is a tablet with a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, a 1.6 GHz Rockchip  RK3066 ARM Cortex-A9 processor, Mali-400 graphics, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.

It runs Google Android 4.1 software, features WiFi, Bluetooth, and HDMI output. The tablet measures less than 0.4 inches thick.

There’s also a keyboard which serves double duty as as screen cover. It has a rechargeable battery — but as far as I can tell that battery is just for the keyboard itself. You can’t use it to extend the tablet’s battery life the way you can with an Asus Transformer Pad.

Still, I’ve definitely seen worse tablets for $200.

US customers can pick one up from ChinaGrabber for about $230, or keep an eye on AliExpress and other sites known for selling Chinese tablets to international customers.

  1. Hey Brad you should try to get your hands on one of these to test out and do a review on. I would love to see how this thing does.

  2. Has anyone done any security research on these cheap android devices with customized kernels to see if they ‘phone home’?

  3. The spec is the same as the MK802III… so it is a MK802III in a tablet form, not bad!

    1. I was just noticing that.
Shouldn’t be too shabby for the price.

  4. So does the tablet have a battery at all? I’m a little confused. Also, do you have a raspberry pi? If so what are you using it for?
