The Quanmax QBOX Mini-1000 is a tiny computer designed for embedded applications. It measures just 5″ x 3.3″ x 0.75″, but this little computer has an Intel Atom processor that supports a range of operating systems including Windows 7, Windows CE, and Linux.

The QBOX Mini-1000 has a 1 GHz Intel Atom E640T processor with a TDP of 3.6W. The chip was released for embedded devices in late 2010, and it’s not as zippy as the latest Atom chips for netbooks or tablets, but it should be good enough to power a point-of-sales system, home media server, or basic desktop computing.

Quanmax also VGA or HDMI options, an audio jack, 2 internal USB ports and 1 external USB port, and a mPCIe expansion slot and mSATA port for storage. The mini-computer supports up to 1GB of DDR2 RAM.

The low-power system doesn’t generate much heat, so it can feature a fanless design. But I wouldn’t plan on using this 6 ounce computer as a media center or gaming system. It doesn’t really have the hardware for those tasks.

Since this device isn’t really aimed at consumers, you’ll need to contact Quanmax is you want to get a price quote.

  1. Someone leave a comment with the price. 🙂 How many Raspberry Pis would I have to give up to get one?
