Panasonic is showing off an ultrabook with an 11.6 inch display and Windows 8 operating system at CEATEC in Japan this week. It’s due to go on sale in Japan later this month, and while the computer looks like a thin and light notebook at first glance, it can also be used as a tablet or a touchscreen desktop-style PC.
That’s because the Panaonic AX series ultrabook has a touchscreen display which you can push back 360 degrees so that the screen faces out when the lid is closed.
You can also fold the screen at a 270 degree angle and prop it up on a table or desk to use the computer like an all-in-one desktop.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this sort of design. Lenovo showed off the IdeaPad Yoga with 360-degree hinge at CES in January.
Engadget reports that the Panasonic AX Series will have a 1366 x 768 pixel display, a choice of Intel Core i5 or Core i7 chips, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB solid state disk. The laptop has a removable battery, and a range of ports including 2 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, VGA,audio, Ethernet, and a microSD card slot.
Are the keys and mouse disabled when it’s folded 360 degrees? Also, I’m not sure I’d want the keys touching a dirty table or my lint full sweats, haha.
