Apple didn’t just introduce two new iPads today. The company also discontinued the model it introduced just half a year ago. That means you can now pick up refurbished models for as little as $379 from the Apple Store.
That’s a pretty spectacular price for a tablet with a 9.7 inch, 2048 x 1536 pixel display, an Apple A5x dual core processor, and 10 hour battery life.
Of course, the reason Apple is marking down the price is because the company just introduced a new model with a faster processor and an entirely new docking connector.
In other words, if you pick up the older model, you may not be able to use some newer accessories designed to work with the new Lightning connector. But there are plenty of keyboards, adapters, and other peripherals on the market designed for the “old” model, so if you’re looking for an iPad that’s nearly as good as the new $499 model, this $379 version is a pretty good deal.

I think Apple is getting carried away with these releases. The iPad 3 hasn’t been out for even a year yet. The one I have is worth less because of the new announcement. They don’t seem too confident in their hardware if they need to make multiple releases in so short a time.
That is a good deal. From Apple’s website:
“We test and certify all Apple refurbished products and include a 1-year warranty. All refurbished iPad models also include a brand new battery and outer shell.”
