Chinese device maker Huawei may be preparing to launch a new Android device with a 6.1 inch, 1080p display. It’s allegedly called the Huawei Ascend Mate, and evidence of the new device popped up on Chinese sites this week.
The Ascend Mate is described as a phone, but with a 6.1 inch screen, it’s coming awfully close to tablet-sized devices like the Google Nexus 7 or Amazon Kindle Fire.
The large screen may be one of the most unusual things about the device, but the Huawei Ascend Mate also reportedly has some serious horsepower.
If the rumors are true, it looks like it will feature a 1.8 GHz Huawei K3V3 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 4000mAh battery. The phone/tablet is said to measure about 0.39 inches thick.
There’s no word on how much storage the Ascend Mate will have, how much it will cost, or if the US Congress will let the company sell the product in the States.

Huawei and ZTE already sell phones through US mobile carriers. So Congress had better hurry up if it wants to ban further sales, otherwise, it
would be like closing the barn door after all the animals have left.
Would love to see a device like this in the Nexus lineup. . . it would be my all purpose mobile/play device — no need for a tablet.
