HTC has unveiled a new smartphone with a 5 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel full HD display. As if having a screen with 440 pixels per inch wasn’t enough, the company is also stuffing a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor in the new HTC J Butterfly smartphone.
The only catch is that the phone has only been introduced in Japan. There’s on word on if or when we’ll see it in other countries.
The HTC J Butterfly features 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a microSDHC card slot for extra storage (something that’s not available on the company’s current flagship phone, the HTC One X).
The phone also features an 8MP rear camera, a 2.1MP front-facing camera, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE, and a 2020mAh battery. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Software with HTC’s Sense user interface.
HTC’s new phone weighs about 4.9 ounces and measures 0.36 inches thick.
While this is hardly the first phone with a big screen or a fast processor, the HTC J Butterfly’s combination of premium features look pretty exciting. Hopefully they don’t also mean the battery will run dry after about a half hour’s use.
