Dell’s new Windows RT tablet isn’t expected to ship until December. But the Dell XPS 10 showed up this week at the FCC website, complete with a user manual and photos of the 10 inch tablet’s case and internal components.

Dell XPS 10 FCC

The Dell XPS 10 features a 10.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, up to 64GB of storage, front and rear cameras, and WiFi and Bluetooth.

It runs Windows RT software, which is basically Windows 8 for devices with ARM-based processors. That means it won’t run older apps designed for Windows 7 or earlier… or any apps that aren’t available from the official Windows Store.

According to the user manual, the tablet measures 10.8″ x 7″ x 0.36″ and weighs about 1.33 pounds. It also shows the dimensions of the screen itself, which measures 9.2″ x 5.4″ and is 0.09 inches thick.

Dell will also offer an optional keyboard docking station that extends the tablet’s battery life and lets you use the XPS 10 like a laptop.

The user manual confirms that there’s a 27Whr battery, a microSD card slot, microUSB port, mini HDMI port and a docking connector which is also what you use to charge the tablet. Customers will get a micro USB to standard USB converter and mini HDMI to full HDMI cable, so while the XPS 10 has pint-sized ports, you should be able to plug in a wide range of peripherals.

The keyboard dock also has 2 USB 2.0 ports, mini HDMI port, and a battery charging light, among other features.

Dell is taking pre-orders for the XPS 10 for $500 and up.

  1. This tablet is already pre order in France at 479€ or 649€ (docking station). She include a micro SD, Micro USB and a docking conector. There’s no HDMI output but an adapter will be available (dock conector -> HDMI).

Dock include a HDMI port (full-sized) and two USB 2.0.
