VIA is launching a new Pico-ITX board that’s not much larger than a Raspberry Pi mini-PC. But the VIA EPIA-P910 features a VIA QuadCore E-Series x86 processor with DirectX 11 support.

That means you should be able to run a wide range of software, including Windows, Linux, or Android. But the EPIA-P910 differs from a typical PC board, in that it’s basically a system-on-aboard, complete with a processor, graphics chip, VGA and HDMI, Ethernet, and USB ports.

You’ll still need to add your own memory and storage. The board supports up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM.

The 1 GHz VIA QuadCore E-Series processor is a 64-bit, 18W chip with Chrome 640 graphics and support 1080p HD video playback and HD audio.

The board itself has 2 USB 3.0 ports, but there are pins that will let you add up to 6 additional USB 2.0 ports or other connectors if you need them.

VIA’s new Pico-ITX board measures 3.9″ x 2.8″, making it a little bigger than a Raspberry Pi which measures 3.4″ x 2.1″. But you get a lot more power from the new VIA board.

It will also probably cost a lot more — but VIA hasn’t yet revealed the price or release date.
