TazTag’s new tablet is a 7 inch Android tablet that looks a lot like all the other 7 inch Android tablets on the market. But this one’s not designed for simple tasks like reading eBooks, surfing the web, or watching movies (although it can do those things).
Instead, the TazPad V2 features strong security aimed at enterprise markets. It has fingerprint reader and NFC security for secure transactions.
The tablet is also Zigbee compliant, letting you use the device to control a home automation system.
It has a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and an 800 x 480 pixel capacitive multitouch display. It runs Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. There’s a 5MP rear camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, and a 5500mAh battery.
The tablet features 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, 3G, and a microSD card slot for extra storage.
The TazPad v2 measures 8.9″ x 4.7″ x 0.4″ and weighs just less than a pound.
I don’t expect to see this tablet sold in big box retail stores anytime soon, but TazTag says pilot projects involving the TazPad v2 will be starting in Europe, India, and South Africa soon.
