Lenovo’s premium ultrabook aimed at business customers is now available for purchase. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon has a starting price of $1329, and if you order one now, it’s expected to ship around October 1st.
The X1 Carbon has a 14 inch, 1600 x 900 pixel matte display, an island-style keyboard, Lenovo’s TrackPoint system (with both a touchpad below the keyboard and pointing stick in the center of the keyboard), and Lenovo’s traditional ThinkPad styling with an all-black, non-nonsense case design.
What gives the laptop its name though, is the carbon fiber case which is both sturdy and light. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon measures 0.7 inches thick and weighs about 3 pounds.
The laptop features 1 USB 2.0 port, 1 USB 3.0 port, an SDHC card port, and a headset jack. There’s no Ethernet port — you’ll need a USB to Ethernet adapter if you want to connect to a wired network. But Lenovo includes Bluetooth and WiFi. The integrated battery is not designed to be user replaceable.
THe $1329 model includes an Intel Core i5-3317U Ivy Bridge processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory, and a 128GB solid state disk.
You can also pay extra if you want a model with a faster processor or more RAM.

Love Thinkpads (owned nothing else) but at that price, I think I’ll be sticking with the T-series… (after a not-unsuccessful detour with an X100e)
No dock, not a worthy member of the Thinkpad family. At least they have rediscovered displays other than 1366×768 so it is encouraging that by the time my X200s is toast they will have a machine to offer that can replace it.
