The Archos 101 XS is a 10 inch Android tablet with a dual core processor, Android 4.0 operating system, and a “coverboard” which acts both as a case cover and as a keyboard dock that makes text entry on the tablet a lot simpler.

Archos is expected to start offering the tablet in the US for about $400 in November, but if you happen to live in Europe you can pick one up now for about 380 €.

Archos 101 XS

The French tablet maker is now selling the Archos 101 XS in its online shop.

Archos will also offer models with 9.7 inch and 8 inch displays later this year. All models are part of the new Archos Gen10 family of tablets, and they’ll all come with coverboards.

The Archos 101XS features a 1.5 GHz TI OMAP 4470 dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It has a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, a front-facing camera, micro USB port, mini HDMI, and a micro SDXC card slot.

The tablet features WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. It measures 10.7 x 6.7 x 0.3″ and weighs 1.3 pounds. The coverboard adds another 7 ounces and 0.2 inches to the package.

While the tablet will ship with Android 4.0, Archos is already working on an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software update which should be available later this year.
