Zotac’s latest mini-desktop PC is a small box that packs an Intel atom Cedar trail processor and NVIDIA graphics to create a mini-desktop that can be used for HD video playback, light-weight computing tasks, or even some gaming.
The Zotac ZBOX ID84 features a 1.86 GHz Intel Atom D2550 dual core processor, NVIDIA Geforce GT 520M graphics with 512MB of memory, and a starting price of $229.
At that price you get a barebones unit with no memory or hard drive. There’s also a $319 ID84 Plus model that includes 2GB of DDR3 RAM and a 320GB hard drive, but no operating system.
Both models feature support for DVI and HDMI output and include 4 USB 2.0 and 2 USB 3.0 ports, 801.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, and a Gigabit Ethernet port.
The computer also comes bundled with a media center remote control, a USB IR receiver, a WiFi antenna, and a VESA mount that you can use to attach the computer to the back of a monitor or TV.
While the Zotac ZBOX ID84 isn’t going to rival a mini PC like the USB thumb drive-sized MK802 any time soon, you’d be forgiven for mistaking the Zotac PC for an external DVD drive. It measures just 7.4″ x 7.4″ x 1.7″.
