Looking for a mini PC that works a lot like the Raspberry Pi, but which offers a little more power? The Gooseberry is a developer board with an Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 processor, Mali 400 graphics, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and 802.11n WiFi.
Basically this is a system board that’s designed to be slotted into Android tablets or similar devices, but Gooseberry orders it from a Chinese manufacturer and sells it as a standalone device.
When it was first introduced in June, only 10 were available, for £40, or about $63 each. It turns out there was greater-than-expected demand, and the second batch of 500 sold out pretty quickly as well. This week gooseberry shipped all 500.
Gooseberry plans to order another batch soon, so keep an eye on the company’s blog to register your interest if you didn’t get in on the initial orders.
Or you could check out the Hackberry A10 Developer Board. It offers many of the same features, and also sells for about $60.
The Hackberry also has full-sized USB ports and an Ethernet jack. The Gooseberry, on the other hand, has no LAN port and only one mini USB port, which means you’ll need a mini USB OTG adapter to connect standard USB peripherals.
Still, it’s an intriguing little device that can be used as a more powerful alternative to the Raspberry Pi.
nice

Hackberry have 1 GB DDR3 instead of 512 MB
The MeLe A1000 for about the same price have only 512 MB too, but have SATA port (to avoid sllooowwwwnesss of the SDcard).
Raspberry, Hackberry, Gooseberry? Is there a trend?
From the image above it appears there are some omitted components on the board. Perhaps there are provisions for LAN or other ports that aren’t being utilized.
Is that a SO-DIMM slot?
