Foxconn is expected to launch an inexpensive, small form-factor desktop PC called the AT-5300 soon. The little computer features a 2.13 GHz Intel Atom D2700 dual core processor, a decent array of ports, and a tiny, fanless case design.
The Foxconn AT-5300 isn’t available in the US yet, but the folks at Tech-Labs.ru in Russia got their hands on the Mini PC, and they’ve taken it apart to see what makes it tick.
The computer has 2 USB 3.0 ports, 4 USB 2.0 ports, a SD card slot, VGA port, HDMI port, Ethernet jack, and mic and headphone jacks.
On the sides you’ll find rather large vents to let air pass through the system. But under the hood there’s no fan at all, thanks to the low power circuitry which doesn’t generate much heat.
Foxconn is expected to sell the AT-5300 for around $200, but that price doesn’t include storage, memory, or an operating system. If you want to keep things cool, your best bet is probably to equip the little computer with a solid state disk, which will drive up the cost. But there’s a 2.5″ slot that can take a less expensive standard hard drive as well.
You can find more photos and some benchmark results at Tech-Labs.ru, but your performance will probably vary depending on the storage and memory you choose for the little computer.
