Amazon has released a new tool that lets you send any article you’re reading on the web to a Kindle eReader with just two click. It’s an extension for the Google Chrome browser called “Send to Kindle,” which adds a Kindle icon to your Chrome toolbar.
Just click the button to bring up a menu, and click the send button to send the website you’re viewing to your Kindle device.
There’s also a preview option that shows what the web page will look like on your Kindle. Amazon automatically strips away advertisements and other content you might not want to see on your Kindle, and attempts to show just the article and photos.
I find that I prefer reading long magazine-style articles on a Kindle to reading them on a PC screen, and this type of plugin makes sending those articles from the web to your mobile reading device pretty easy.
If you have more than one Kindle device, you can open the settings and choose which device you want to send the document to. That includes the Kindle, Kindle Fire, or any iOS or Android phone or tablet with the Kindle app installed.
While the official Amazon Send to Kindle plugin for Chrome is new, a handful of other plugins including Push to Kindle and an unofficial Send to Kindle tool have been available for a while.  If you’re happy with them, they’ll continue to work. But Amazon’s new Chrome extension is a pretty slick alternative.
