The Vizio Co-Star is a small box that turns any television into a Google TV device. You can use it to stream music and movies from the internet, view weather details, play games, or run other Google TV apps.

It’s also the cheapest Google TV box to launch so far. Vizio is charging just $99.99 for the set-top-box and a remote control. It’s now available for pre-order, and expected to ship in mid-August.

Vizio Co-Star

The Co-Star features HDMI input and output, Ethernet, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, and a USB 2.0 port. It can handle 1080p HD video playback and supports H.264, Mp4, and MKV videos. It also features 5.1 channel audio.

Vizio also features support for OnLive, a service that lets you stream console-quality video games over the internet. In other words, you can use this $100 box as a substitute for an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3.
