HTC may be preparing to launch two or more new tablets. Earlier this week an HTC official told PC Advisor that it would launch a follow-up to last year’s HTC Flyer.

Now benchmark results have appeared online for at least two different devices.

HTC Vertex benchmarks

The first is called the HTC Vertex, and it has a 1.3 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, a 1280 x 800 pixel display, and Android 4.0.3 operating system.

The second tablet is an unnamed model with a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm S4 MSM8960 dual core processor, and what I believe may be a 1920 x 1080 pixel screen (the benchmark results report it as 1794 x 1080, but it’s likely that some pixels are ignored due to a status bar).

While there’s no word on the screen sizes for these two tablets, I wouldn’t be surprised if the higher-resolution model has a 10 inch display much like the Acer Iconia Tab A700 and Asus Transformer Pad Infinity.

The smaller model could be a 7 inch tablet based on NVIDIA’s Kai platform. That’s the reference design used for Google’s $199 Nexus 7 tablet.

But those are just guesses. At this point it’s not even clear which of these tablets, if either, will actually make it to market.

It also remains to be seen whether any new tablets from HTC would include a stylus or digital pen. One of the only things that set the HTC Flyer 7 apart from a crowded field of Android tablets was the pressure-sensitive pen that shipped with some units, allowing users to write or draw on the screen.
