The Acer Aspire S3 was one of the first ultrabooks to hit the market last year, and it’s one of the least expensive, with prices regularly hitting the $700 mark.
Now Acer is getting ready to upgrade the Aspire S3 — while lowering the starting price to $648.
Acer has announced that starting next week the Aspire S3 will be available in the US with Intel Ivy Bridge (3rd generation Core family) processors and prices ranging from $648 to $1000.
The laptop weighs just under 3 pounds and features a 13.3 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display. It will be available with a range of processor and storage options, supporting up to a Core i7 CPU and 256GB solid state disk.
Cheaper models will have a hybrid storage system with a large hard drive paired with a smaller solid state disk.
Acer will also begin offering S3 ultrabooks with Ivy Bridge processors in Canada this week, but prices will be a little higher there, at $800 and up.
