Juniper Systems and SDG Systems have introduced a new rugged tablet meant to take a beating. The Rampage 6 features a 5.7 inch display and Android 2.3 operating system — and a big, thick case that will help the tablet survive a dip in the ocean or a fall to a concrete road.

Rampage 6

The Rampage 6 isn’t exactly the prettiest Android tablet around — and some folks might be turned off by the resistive touchscreen which doesn’t support multitouch input. But this isn’t a consumer tablet.

It’s designed to resist water and dust and generally be useful in dirty environments where other Android phones or tablets might feat to tread. THe tablet has a GPS receiver, a barcode scanner, and a version of Android based on the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) code.

Pricing details aren’t available yet, but the Rampage 6 should go on sale during the third quarter of 2012.
