Dell Inspiron Duo

The Dell Inspiron Duo may have been a product ahead of its time. It’s a Windows 7 netbook with a dual core Intel Atom processor and a touchscreen display. You can tilt back the display and close the laptop lid to use the computer as a tablet.

While Windows 7 doesn’t offer the most finger-friendly user experience, there’s nothing stopping you from installing a pre-release build of Windows 8 on this little guy and using the new touch-friendly Metro user interface.

You can pick up a refurbished model of this discontinued computer for $400.

  1. I agree with this article as I have a dell duo and I am really waiting for windows 8 to come out and fix all of the problems with using windows 7 on it. So I am not really using it too often, but when windows 8 comes out I will very happy and excited!

  2. While the Dell Inspiron Duo looks tempting, I would shy away from it. Users have complained about its unreliability, slowness, and poor battery life.  It also only has 2 USB 2.0 ports.  In other words, yet another shoddy Dull, er, Dell product.  As testament, Dell quickly EOL’d (end of life’d) this product shortly after its introduction.
