Acer introduced the Aspire S5 ultrabook at CES in January, but at the time there were no details about the price or launch date. Now it looks like the thin and light laptop is set to go on sale in the United Arab Emirates in June for about $1400.

The Aspire S5 will probably be a little less expensive in other parts of the world, but international pricing details still aren’t available.

Acer Aspire S5 ultrabook

Acer’s new ultrabook features a 13.3 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, a 128GB solid state disk and support for up to 8GB of RAM. It’s expected to ship with Windows 7 and an Intel Ivy Bridge processor.

The S5 will be one of the thinnest ultrabooks on the market, measuring less than 0.6 inches thick. It weighs just under 3 pounds.

One of the things that sets the Acer Aspire S5 apart from other ultrabooks is a “Magic Flip” panel on the back of the laptop. When you need to access the USB ports, HDMI port or other connectors, you tap a button and the panel flips around to reveal the ports. When not in use, it’s hidden away.
