Fallout is a classic role playing game from 1997. It was designed to run on Windows computers, but with a little elbow grease you can get the game to run on an Android tablet. In fact, RootzWiki Forum member RolandDeschain79 even managed to get the game up and running on an HP TouchPad running Google Android 4.0.

The graphics are a little on the sluggish side during game play, but audio and videos work and the game runs just fast enough to be playable.

That said, it takes a little work to coax a TouchPad into running the game. You need to download Fallout for DOS, install a Dosbox emulator on the TouchPad, and apply some configuration patches to improve performance.

It also helps to overclock the TouchPad so it runs at 1.5 GHz instead of 1.2 GHz and to use the recently released Qualcomm Adreno graphics drivers.

There are plenty of newer games that are designed to run on Android which are going to offer better performance. But the fact that you can run one of the most popular games from the late 90s on a tablet from 2011 is still pretty cool.

  1. Absolutely amazing!!!  I just bought DosBox Turbo for my Samsung Galaxy SII and am playing fallout on my ride to work every day.  Thanks so much for the video!

  2. Or you could just play it on your PC which has no space limitations and runs faster with proper keyboard support?? Why bother??
