Sony plans to roll out software updates for the Sony Tablet S and Sony Tablet P in April, bringing Android 4.0 to its two unusually-shaped tablets.

Sony Tablet P and Sony Tablet S

The Sony Tablet S is a tablet with a 9.4 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display and a wedge-shaped design, while the Tablet P is a dual-screen device which can be folded up to fit in your pocket or unfolded to reveal two 5.5 inch, 1024 x 480 pixel displays.

Both models feature NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processors and Sony Playstation Suite software which allows you to download and play some classic games made for the Sony video game console.

The new software adds Android 4.0 favorites including the ability to remove apps from the recent apps list, improved graphics, spell-checking, and more.

Sony is also rolling a few of its own apps into the software update, including a program that lets you stream video recorded on a Sony BD recorder to a Sony tablet and new “small apps” which lets you bring up tiny widget-like apps without minimizing other apps.

These small apps will include a calculator, TV channel changer, and social networking app. Samsung incorporates a similar feature into its TouchWiz software.

Sony also plans to launch a new WiFi-only version of the Sony Tablet P in Japan on April 21st. Up until now the only versions of the dual-screen tablet had featured cellular data capabilities.
