HTC is getting ready to launch a new line of Android smartphones under the HTC One name with high resolution displays, fast processors, and a few other nifty features… including support for a new accessory called the HTC Media Link HD which passed through the FCC this weekend.

HTC Media Link HD

The HTC Media Link HD is a small box that you can hook up to a high definition TV or monitor using an HDMI cable. The Media Link then lets you stream HD video wirelessly from your HTC One smartphone.

According to a product listing at Expansys, the device will come with an HDMI cable and a USB cable, and it’s designed to “mirror” what’s on your phone to your television. Hopefully that means you can plan video games or surf the web in addition to viewing HD video.

The HTC Media Link HD should be able to stream 1080p content over a an 802.11n WiFi network. It’s expected to sell for around $110.

  1. does this accessory come with the actual phone htc one x, or do you have to buy it seperatly, if you have to buy it its terrible.

    1.  Unknown, HTC hasn’t released a compatibility list or even whether it will be limited to just HTC phones.

Though, since it works over WiFi that it should work for any device running the same proprietary software/app, but it may be locked to a specific phone if it’s designed to recognize the device it is being run on.

  2. Is this device designed to work with HTC One smartphones only? If so, that is a shame. Someone needs to develope a wireless video streaming standard that all manufacturers (phone, tablet, laptop, TV, etc.) can use. That would be a major win for consumers.
