Right now if you want to use a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet with a 3G or 4G network you need to use a MiFi or similar mobile hotspot. But Research in Motion is preparing to launch new models with 4G connectivity… and this week they showed up at the FCC website.

BlackBerry PlayBook 3g

The first to appear was a model with a built in HSPA+ modem. This week it showed up at the FCC website. There’s also a 4G LTE version.

There aren’t many details available in the FCC listing, but we do know that the tablet will support 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, and mobile broadband.

Like the WiFi-only models which have been available for over a year, it looks like the new 3G model will have a 7 inch screen.

There’s also a rumor that the new model may have a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, which would make it a bit zippier than the original PlayBook which has a 1 GHz TI OMAP 4 dual core CPU.
