Asus will roll out a software update for the Eee Pad Transformer Prime tablet this week. Software version 9.4.2..21 will update a number of system apps while adding a few new features to the 10 inch Android tablet.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

The Transformer Prime features a 10 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, and Android 4.0 operating system. One of the things that sets it apart from most tablets is the optional keyboard docking station which lets you use the tablet like a notebook.

But most notebooks don’t just have WiFi internet access… they also have Ethernet. The new software will let you use an Ethernet cable — as long as you buy a supported USB to Ethernet adapter. I can’t imagine this is a feature a large number of people have been clamoring for, but it does make the Transformer Prime a little more laptop-like.

Other updates include:

  • Google apps have been updated to their Google Play counterparts, including the Play Store, Play Books, Play Music, and Play Movies apps.
  • Asus Vibe has been updated to version 2.0 with a new user interface
  • Users can choose portrait or landscape orientation, and full-screen or cropped modes when displaying content on a TV using the Prime’s HDMI output

  1. It’s very good to know! if you’d like to see it in action, I made a video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYGv-U8n1lc&hd=1&list=PLFA87501087653A16

  2. that is actually pretty good to know, especially if you are in a hotel with crappy wireless and an Ethernet connection in the room.

  3. I could see that being minorly useful if I stayed in a lot of hotels, or owned a Transformer.
