The Toshiba Excite is the latest 10 inch Android tablet from Toshiba. It’s not yet available for purchase in the US, but now you can pick one up in the UK from Carphone Warehouse for £399 and up.
The tablet is thinner and lighter than the 10 inch Thrive tablet I reviewed last year — and it doesn’t have the removable battery or full-sized USB, SD card, or HDMI ports found on its predecessor.
But the new model does have a few things going for it. It has a 1.2 GHz TI OMAP 4430 dual core processor, 1GB of RAM and a 16GB to 32GB of storage. It has a 2MP front-facing camera and 5MP rear camera, DLNA support, a microSD card slot, microUSB port, and mini HDMI port.
It measures 0.3 inches thick and weighs less than 1.2 pounds, making it much thinner and lighter than the Thrive.
The Toshiba Excite is available in the UK with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, but last I’d heard Toshiba is hoping to be able to use Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the tablet by the time it’s ready to ship in the US.
