Starting February 5th you’ll be able to pick up an Android 3.2 tablet with a 7 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display from Sprint for $99.99 when you sign up for a 2-year contract. Data plans start at $19.99 per month for 1GB of data.

ZTE Optik tablet

The ZTE Optik tablet has a 1.2 GHz Qulacomm MSM8660 dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It has a front-facing 2MP camera and a rear 5MP camera with auto-focus. The tablet includes 802.11b/g WIFI, Bluetooth 2.1, and GPS and works with Sprint’s 3G wireless network.

While the tablet isn’t exactly state-of-the art, it looks like a reasonably good device for the price. It can also be used as a mobile hotspot and comes with the Android Market and suite of Google apps including Gmail, Google Maps, and YouTube.

The Optik measures 7.6″ x 4.7″ x 0.5″ and weighs about 14 ounces, or just under 0.9 pounds.

Sprint will also offer the tablet contract-free for $349.99.

  1. I tested this device at the end of last year and it looked really great, BUT: it uses a proprietary power plug (5V), so you can´t use USB based external batteries. And as the battery life is not really great, having no way to connect a spare battery makes this device nearly useless.

    1. Sorry for the error. I tested the Huawei 7″ tablet, which has the proprietary power connector. My fault!
