Acer has announced plans to push out Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software updates to the company’s first two Android tablets. Both the 7 inch Iconia Tab A100 and 10 inch Iconia Tab A500 will get the new software in April, 2012.
Acer has already started rolling out Android 4.0 for the recently released Acer Iconia Tab A200 10 inch Android tablet.
Right now both the A100 and A500 tablets feature Android 3.2 Honeycomb software. Some of the key differences in Android 4.0 include a new font, more streamlined graphics, the ability to remove apps from the recent apps menu, and a new contact management app called People.
Acer says the web browser is also faster and there are enhanced options for managing apps and folders.
The company is also adding the “Acer Ring” to these tablets with the software update. When you launch the ring you can gain quick access to various features including the web browser, photo gallery, and screenshot tool.
