Sony is showing off a concept design for an ultrabook which can be used as a notebook or a tablet. The touchscreen display covers the keyboard when you want to use the device as a tablet. But you can slide out the keyboard and prop up the display for use in tablet mode.
The design looks a lot like the Samsung Series 7 Sliding Windows tablet that never saw the light of day, and the Asus Eee Pad Slider Android tablet, which did.
Like the Eee PC Slider, Sony’s concept design has speakers placed behind the keyboard — which means that the screen would actually cover the speakers and probably muffle the  audio when you’re using the computer in tablet mode.
Other than that, it looks like a pretty slick machine with a few USB ports and support for stylus input. There’s no word on price, processor, or other details — and this tablet may not ever actually be released.
Sony can call this a tablet but it’s really just a touchscreen fragile looking laptop, which ends up being a bulky heavy tablet that no one will want to carry.
Feh, who cares? Sony will brick it like they did to not run Linux on it like they did for the the PS3 after they got the suckers to buy it to do that.
Anyone buying anything from Sony is an idiot or works for one.
Stick with the Asus Transformer. . . .
If it runs Windows, has a 10″ screen and active digitizer then I’d pay the Sony price.
Sony’s not saying anything about it, but it looks like the prototype has a 12 or 13 inch screen. That doesn’t mean the final product will.Â
