Polaroid has introduced a line of Android tablets with a 1 GHz ARM Cortex-a8 single core processor, between 4GB and 16GB of storage and 7, 8, and 9 inch displays. I can’t think of any reason why you’d want to buy any of them though.

Eventually the tablets will be available with Google Android 4.0, but I got a chance to check out pre-release units running Android 2.2 and 2.3 at CES this week and they’re really quite underwhelming.

The good news is that the tablets all have capacitive touchscreen displays with support for 10-finger input. They also have front and rear cameras. But the cases feel pretty cheap, and performance is nothing to write home about.

The best thing I can probably say about the new tablets is that the 7 inch model comes in a variety of vibrant colors including green, blue, pink, whit, and yellow.

  1. Had the 10″ drop and it cracked. Couldn’t find same model. Got 9″. Its crap! Volume crap! Camera what a joke not centered. Grainy picture. Hate it! Gonna let the grandkids play with it. If it breaks, no great loss. I thought Polaroid took pride in its products. This tablet should make you want to change your name. Typing this with the Samsung I wish I had purchased in the first place!

  2. I own a Polaroid tablet. Bought it at Kohls.
It works really well. Great tablet for the money.

  3. You’d think Polaroid would have put in a very high quality camera with Xenon flash something unique in the camera/video department.

With those severely outdated specs, they’ll have a tough time competing in the budget tablet market unless this thing goes for $50.

  4. Well, if they have market access (do they?) and if they are budget priced, then not necessarily bad?

    1. I saw a holiday mail ad from Menards about a month ago that was advertising some sort of Polaroid-branded Android tablet. $179, if memory serves. If you’re not familiar with Menards, it’s a building-supply store like Home Depot, but one that also happens to sell groceries, cheap clothing, and an odd assortment of toys and electronics.
