The OpenPandora project is an open source project to create a handheld gaming console using open source designs and open source software. The Pandora has an ARM-based processor, Linux-based operating system, and support for a wide range of game console emulators along with a QWERTY thumb keyboard and dual analog game controllers.
It’s been about four years since the project was started, and only a handful of Pandora units have been shipped so far due to a number of obstacles. But the group has found a new company to produce Pandora systems and plans to begin mass production in February.

Unfortunately the specs for the Pandora look like those for a product that was state-of-the-art a few years ago. It has a 4.3 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display, a 600 MHz TI OMAP 3550 processor, 110 MHz PowerVR SGX530 graphics, 512MB of RAM, and 512MB of storage. Most modern smartphones have more powerful hardware.
The Pandora does still have a few nifty features including dual SDHC card slots, USB host capabilities, composite and S-video TV output, and the gamepad and keyboard.

It is a piece of junk . Trust me i had 3 of them.
Cracks in casing, loose buttons, non working buttons,stiff buttons, poor LCD durability and much software incompatiblity make this a bad buy for 500 usd !!! Oh yes and customer service is dreadful. I would say they have had at least a 25% failure rate with not even 4000 units sent out since 2009!!!!
There are people who preordered in 2009 who still haven’t received their units. I ordered early, then cancelled when the first delay notices started coming out. I wish them well, and I have to admire their (dwindling) customer base who are still with them 2 years on, but I don’t have any faith in their ability to actually produce something.
Not to mention that their hardware is now badly out of date.
Price is too high for such underpowered device. How about putting 25$ Raspberry Pi board inside Pandora case?
