The Novero Solana is a 10 inch netbook with an Intel Atom N600 Cedar Trail processor and Windows 7 operating system. But what makes it unusual is that it can also function as a touchscreen tablet. What makes it even more unusual is that it doesn’t have a swivel like an old-school tablet. Instead, you simply push back the display within its frame to change from notebook to tablet mode.
The design isn’t entirely unique. Dell used the same mechanism in the Inspiron Duo convertible netbook. But the Solana is still definitely an eye-catching device.
Novero’s netbook has a nice large keyboard, a decent touchpad, and a reasonably good screen. There’s a very large bezel around the sides though — especially when you account for the frame. So this isn’t exactly the thinnest or lightest netbook you’re going to find
Intel is showing of the netbook at the chip-maker’s booth at CES this week, and says the Solana netbook should be available for purchase in February.
Like the Dell, it makes it have a footprint if a 13″ or larger notebook. Pass.
