As expected, Lenovo is launching a new Android tablets with 5, 7, and 10 inch displays. But there’s something special about the 10 inch model. The Lenovo IdeaTab S2 10 will be available with an optional keyboard docking station that lets you use the tablet like a laptop. The keyboard dock also includes its own battery and a few extra ports, expanding the capabilities of the tablet.
In other words, the Lenovo IdeaTab S2 10 is Lenovo’s version of an Asus Eee Pad Transformer.
But while the Transformer tablets feature NVIDIA processors, Lenovo’s new tablet has a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm 8960 dual core processor instead.
The IdeaTab S2 10 has a 1280 x 800 pixel display, up to 64GB of storage, WiFi, 3G, front and rear cameras, and a microHDMI port. The tablet measures 0.34″ thick and weighs about 1.1 pounds.
The tablet alone should get up to 9 hours of battery life, but Lenovo says when you add the docking station you can get up to 20 hours of run time. The keyboard dock also has a multitouch touchpad, a card reader, and 2 USB 2.0 ports.
Lenovo is introducing the S2 10 immediately in China. It should be available in the US during the second quarter of 2012.
