HP has updated its business-friendly netbook line with the HP Mini 1104. It’s a 10 inch netbook aimed at business and education. The new model looks a lot like the last few business netbooks from the company, but the Mini 1104 sports a shiny new 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N2600 dual core processor.
The mini-laptop supports up to 2GB of memory, up to 320GB of hard drive space, and features a 1024 x 600 pixel display, 3 USB 2.0 ports, a VGA port, headset jack, SD card slot, and Ethernet jack.
It’s available with FreeDOS, Windows 7 Starter, Home Premium, or Professional. The HP Mini 1104 measures 10.6″ x 7.5″ x 0.9″ and weighs about 2.78 pounds. It’s avaialble with a 28Whr 3-cell battery or a 55Whr 6-cell battery. HP says the larger battery should provide up to 9 hours of run time.
For the most part, HP’s business netbooks look a lot like the company’s consumer netbooks, but the Mijni 1104 is available with security features including a Trusted Platform Module 1.2 embedded security chip.
The netbook has a starting price of $399. The HP Mini 110 and Mini 210 consumer netbooks have starting prices of under $300, but neither model is available with an Intel Atom Cedar Trail processor yet.
I think it would be really neat with an OLED screen; since it is self illuminating, the battery would last longer than with an LCD screen and use up less space. https://www.oled-display.net
Nice notebook, except for the limit of 2GB of memory and the 1024×600 screen resolution. I’ve been looking at replacing my existing netbook, but this isn’t much of an upgrade. In fact, my current netbook has a 1366×768 screen so this would be a downgrade.
What I want is this computer with the new Samsung 1920×1080 10.1 inch screen.
I don’t think it makes much sense to have something with more resolution than 1024×600 in a 10″ netbook. While 1024×600 is really cramped, 1366×768 in a 10″ netbook would be really tiny.
