Asus Eee PC 1225B

Asus has confirmed that it will launch the Eee PC 1225B notebook in February for $399 and up. We got our first glimpse of this notebook with a 11.6 inch display last month, but Asus is making things official during CES week in Vegas.

The laptop features a 1.6 GHz AMD E-450 dual core processor and AMD Radeon HD 6320 graphics. Asus is positioning the 1225B as an entry-level ultraportable laptop with an emphasis on media thanks to its support for 1080p HD video playback.

At $399, the Eee PC 1225 is about half the price of typical ultrabook. That’s not to say you don’t get what you pay for with an ultrabook. In addition to a fast Intel processor, most ultrabooks have expensive solid state disks. But if you can live without those premium features, the 1225B looks like a pretty good bargain.

It ships with 2GB of DDR3 RAM and can support up to 4GB. The laptop has a 320GB hard drive, VGA camera, 2 USB 3.0 ports and 1 USB 2.0 port, WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and an SDHC card reader. It also has VGA and HDMI ports.

The Eee PC 1215B measures 11.7″ x 8″ x 1.4″ and weighs 3.1 pounds. It has 6 cell battery and gets up to 6 hours of battery life. It will be available in black, white, or red.

  1. If it is similar to the 1215B it supports 8Gb not 4Gb of RAM, and since the difference between 4Gb and 8gb is on average less than $9 ATM you might as well go for the full 8Gb. If its like the 1215B (which i have and its a great little performer) it comes with HP X64 so you can enjoy the full 8Gb. Mine is set for 512Mb for the GPU and the other 7.5Gb for the system and its excellent on battery life, especially for multimedia. i get on average a little over 6 hours watching 720p or if I just want to surf the built in Expressgate gets me nearly 8 hours. you just can’t beat that for a machine that only weighs 3 pounds!
