The Eee PC 1025C isn’t the only new netbook from Asus with an Intel Atom Cedar Trail chip. The company is also giving its low-cost Eee PC X101 netbook an upgrade by throwing in a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N2600 dual core processor.
The result is the Eee PC X101CH, a 10 inch mini-laptop which will ship in February for $269. The laptop can handle DirectX 10 graphics and 720p HD video output and comes with 1GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive.
It’s slimmer than the Eee PC 1025C, and Asus made a few sacrifices to keep costs down. The X101CH has just 2 USB 2.0 ports and comes with a 3 cell battery which provides up to 4 hours of run time, or less than half of what you get from more expensive netbooks.
The good news is that the Eee PC X101CH is awfully light, weighing just 2.3 pounds. It measures 10.3″ x 7.1″ x 0.86″ and still manages to make room for mic, headphone, VGA, HDMI, and SD card ports.
Asus will offer the Eee PC X101CH in black, white, and red.
