Skytex Skypad Alpha 2

As promised, Skytex has started taking orders for the Skypad ALpha 2. It’s an Android tablet with a 7 inch display, a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, and Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system. It has a 5-point multitouch display, support for 1080p HD and 3D video, and HDMI output.

Those features are almost enough to make me overlook the lose resolution, 800 x 480 pixel display. But at a time when many 4-inch phones have higher resolution displays, it’s tough to justify spending money on a 7 inch tablet with a low-res screen.

The good news is that Skytex is running a promotion through December 25th which knocks $50 off the tablet’s normal $219 price tag.

You can pick one up for $169 if you use the coupon code SPA250 at the Skytex web store.

    1. This tablet is available for 174.00 after shipping https://www.teambuy.ca/winnipeg/28135515

  2. Is this a good tablet to purchase?  I want one for my daughter who is 10 yrs old.

  3. From what I understand, the pixel density of a 7″ 800×480 screen is 133ppi, and the iPad2 with 9.7″ at 1024×768 is 132ppi. So technically it’s more pixel dense than an ipad. That being said, I love the Springboard’s 7″ 1280×800 screen. I just hate its price.

  4. This company doesn’t make anything they buy from suppliers and slap their name on it. You might as well go direct to the source on aliexpress.com

  5. I could live with the resolution at that price if it came with android market out of the box.
