Google Android 4.0 calendar widget

Just as we were starting to get used to Android 4.0.1, Google has released a new version of its mobile operating system. Google released the Android 4.0.3 platform and software developer kit tools today.

The update comes just a day after the first Android 4.0 device went on sale in the US. Google will roll out an Android 4.0.3 software updated for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone soon and other phones and tablets should get the software soon as well.

This is a minor update, but it does provide a few new features for developers, including:

  • Developers can now write apps that can add color to calendar events.
  • Apps that use the camera can check and manage video stabilization.
  • Social apps that use check-ins, satus updates and similar tools can sync data with individual contacts to create social streams.

Android 4.0.3 also includes improved graphics, spell-checking, Bluetooth, and other features.

  1. Glad they are allowing calendar colors now but that should be a built in feature, not an app. It’s surprising that you can’t sync the calendar colors between desktop and smartphone. I downloaded a Set Calendar Colors on my Samsung GSIII and it allows me to change the calendar colors easily. Hopefully I can delete it when Android updates this feature. Seems like an obvious feature.

  2. How is it a possible that such an advanced piece of software does not have a basic useful application as “Notepad” or “Notes” on it?!
