The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is the first product to ship with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. The 10 inch Android tablet also has a 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, 1GB of RAM, and 32GB to 64GB of storage — and customers can pick up an optional keyboard dock that transforms the device into an Android laptop and which nearly doubles the battery life.
Unfortunately the Transformer is a little scarce this holiday season. While Asus says it has started shipping the tablet to folks that have placed pre-orders, most retailers are currently out of stock.
But Asus is now saying that the company will have more inventory available for North American shoppers in January.
Of course, by then, the Transformer Prime may not be the only quad-core Android tablet available. A number of companies including Acer and Lenovo are expected to launch tablets with NVIDIA Tegra 3 chips early next year.
