Lenovo’s next Android tablet to sport a Tegra 3 chip

11/14/2011 at 9:22 AM by Brad Linder 1 Comment

Lenovo tablet with Tegra 3

Asus may have been the first company to introduce an Android tablet with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. But Asus is hardly the only company set to launch a new Tegra 3-powered device. Engadget scored some details (and photos) of a new tablet that Lenovo plans to launch by the end of the year.

The tablet reportedly has a 10.1 inch display, an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, and Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. I expect to repeat that line a lot in the coming months as additional tablet makers jump on the ICS and Tegra 3 bandwagons, but here’s something else that sets Lenovo’s tablet apart: It features 2GB of DDR3 1600 MHz RAM.

Most Android tablets on the market today ship with 1GB of RAM or less.

Engadget says the new tablet will also have a full-sized USB host port, a fingerprint scanner, and a rear-facing camera. There are no photos of the front available, but I suspect if you flipped the tablet over you’d find another camera on that side as well.
