The Cisco Cius tablet which launched this year is an Android tablet with an Intel Atom processor and a heavy emphasis on business. There’s an optional dock that lets you turn the tablet into an office phone, for instance.
Right now Cisco offers a model with a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, but CNET reports that next year the company will offer new models in different sizes.
About a thousand businesses are already using Cisco Cius WiFi-only tablets. AT&T and Verizon models are scheduled to launch soon, including the 4G LTE model we spotted at the FCC earlier this week.
The business tablets aren’t as cheap as consumer devices. Prices start at $725, but Cisco includes corporate-friendly software for communications, remote desktop access, and security, among other things. Corporate IT managers can even create custom app stores for the tablets.
The new models will be available next year with screens both larger and smaller than 7 inches.
